I have been looking forward to the surprised delight of that moment when I really *knew* I was in labour — the escalating contractions, the surprise water breaking (not, as [...]...

  4. The zen art of pool skimming We have one of those oversized inflatable kiddie pools in our backyard. It’s 12 feet across, and the water is maybe 26 inches deep. Mad Hatter February 9, 2008 at 10:46 am

Holy crap!!! Congratulations. He is beautiful!!!

BTW, you are the first blogger I have ever encountered who managed to have a baby without taking a day off blogging. It’s remarkable, really.

What’s Kerry talking about? He doesn’t look at all like Simon (rolling eyes). Are you sure that’s not a photo from 4 years ago?? Just checking in for an update, or perhaps a name, well??

I agree with Mad…not even a day off! NO EPIDURAL?! You really are a hero. He looks adorable.

Congrats!

Sara February 9, 2008 at 12:25 pm

Yay!!!!

He’s beautiful. And you’re awesome. His head isn’t even pointy! Did not having the epidural let you get up so gravity helped?

He’s exactly the weight my DD was, but longer and slimmer.

And wait, isn’t *now* LATER as in “to be named later” ???

Welcome little one, and congratulations to the whole family!

Brenda February 9, 2008 at 9:55 pm

Dani,

My first thought was he looks like Simon too! Job well done Mommy! Looks like he is settling in right away.

Don’t stress yourselves about the name part, Logan wasn’t named for 3 days after birth, I looked for HOURS through books saying the name and looking at him before I was happy! So, I’ll be patient till you name your big guy!

Sheila February 9, 2008 at 11:02 pm

CONGRATULATIONS! I am delighted for all of you. Thanks for sharing the news and pictures so promptly. He is wonderful, looks big and healthy, and yet so small and sweet… I think he has big strong hands and feet – might be a fine hockey player, or handyman, or pianist? Maybe all three!
Welcome to the world, little guy, and way to go Dani!

renee February 10, 2008 at 12:52 am

Yeah for the family!!
Welcome to the world little one! Did you know friends, family and complete strangers like myself were waiting anxiously awaiting your arrival?!
Congratulations to you all. It has been quite the adventure and I thank you for sharing it with us in cyberspace.
