in My 15 minutes

What a great way to start what is likely to be a very exciting week!

For the second year in a row, you’ve voted this blog the Second Best Family Blog in the Canadian Blog Awards!!! Thank you so much to Jen, who nominated me, and to all of you who voted through rounds one and two. I’m very honoured, especially given the amazing quality of the other blogs who were also nominated.

Congratulations to first place winner Beck from Frog and Toad are Still Friends, third place winner The Genealogist, finalists Don Mills Diva and City News: Family Matters, and to all the great bloggers who were nominated this year.

As if that weren’t exciting enough, at the risk of having the Uterus That Cried Wolf, I’ve been having mild but noticable contractions since I woke up this morning. Hey, he’s got to come out of there eventually!!

Thanks again for the great honour – I love all of you!!!

And I hope those contractions kick into high gear soon.

Congrats, Dani! I hope PTBNL shows up to congratulate his mom in person soon.

I would like to clarify – for the second year in a row, I voted you as *First* Best Family Blog. It’s like those long ago Avis ads, “We’re number 2. We try harder.” You will again deliver great content and we will enjoy it.

If I could have arranged for those football cheerleaders (assuming there were cheerleaders) to develop a cheer for your contractions, I would have … and the CAPTCHA oracle is in your favour.

Congrats on your win!

2nd place out of cyber space for Best Family Blog is pretty darn good if you ask me πŸ™‚

I hope you have a chance to celebrate today!

5 Tracey February 4, 2008 at 9:46 am

Congrats! Hopefully you will be celebrating with your baby soon!

Mild contractions is a start. πŸ™‚

Second place! You rock…. And you’re first with the cool kids πŸ™‚
(go, baby, go!!)

7 Shauna February 4, 2008 at 10:06 am

Sorry it’s not first place but second place is pretty fine!

Here’s hoping that those contractions turn into stronger contractions. No snowstorm today. πŸ™‚

A BABY! I hope that you have your baby TODAY! That is so exciting!

9 revdrmom February 4, 2008 at 10:25 am

And keep those contractions coming! (and keep us posted!)

10 Not So Little Sister February 4, 2008 at 10:52 am

Yay bloggy awards! Yay contractions!

11 DaniGirl February 4, 2008 at 10:55 am

Thanks all!

Hmmm, my Twitter feed seems to be as fickle as my contractions. Been almost two hours since I had a contraction — once again, it’s the Uterus That Cried Wolf!

(Ha, captcha is “drink one” — maybe a lunchtime cocktail is in order?)

12 nancy February 4, 2008 at 11:47 am

Congratulations!! I think 2nd place, or any place is wonderful, you deserve it!

Now for the captcha : influenced forgery

13 nancy February 4, 2008 at 11:48 am

And what’s with the baby watch? Now it’s going backwards…shouldn’t it at least read 3 days ago? not 3 days to go?

ANother useless captcha : white following

14 Mad Hatter February 4, 2008 at 12:13 pm

Yay for coming in second. Boo to the uterus. Quit playing the psych game on our poor Dani.

15 mamatulip February 4, 2008 at 12:25 pm

Congratulations, Dani, on all accounts!

16 ewe_are_here February 4, 2008 at 1:14 pm

Congrats! You’re in good company, as I also love Beck and DMD.

17 Madeleine February 4, 2008 at 1:18 pm

Here’s my cheer for more contractions today:

Makes a great birth date!
Goooooo Dani!

Alas, the Captcha oracle says:
gang disappointed

Yeah, but not as disappointed as the Mom, I’d guess.

18 revdrmom February 4, 2008 at 1:50 pm

Ha! My captcha is “here combs” which of course you could read as “hair combs” or “here (he) comes”. I’m going for the latter.

And yes, I’m checking obsessively for updates. Wonder what I’ll be doing when (if) NSLS is three days post-due date!

19 Lee February 4, 2008 at 2:27 pm

Congratulations and well deserved!

Captcha: prediction, home

20 ali February 4, 2008 at 2:29 pm

congrats…now only if it could induce labor…;)

21 Sue February 4, 2008 at 2:32 pm

congrats on the award Dani!!

Come on PTBNL – let’s do this!!

22 Mom On The Run February 4, 2008 at 3:26 pm

I’m not sure if I’m more excited about your award or the prospect of FINALLY having you stop complaining about your uterus (joke). I hope to be reading a birth story in a day or two! Yippee!

23 DaniGirl February 4, 2008 at 3:35 pm

Well, this baby’s not on his way today. One, maybe two contractions in the last four or five hours. Bah!

And, Mom on the Run, I’m about to pass a 10-ish pound baby — you think that’s going to STOP me complaining about my uterus? Ha, the real complaining has only begun!!!

24 colleen February 4, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Congratulations Dani…well deserved. Time for baby to come home.

25 Batman February 4, 2008 at 6:39 pm

26 Renee February 4, 2008 at 9:27 pm

27 Sarah February 4, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Congrats on your silver placement!… I’ll be checking your blog to hear about this new little descendant of yours! πŸ™‚
