International delurking week

Hey you! Yes, you! The one who sashays over here, checks out what’s new, and leaves without a peep. I’m talking to YOU!

I see you visiting, you know. I wonder who you are, and why you visit, and whether you like what you are reading. I wonder why you come often, but never say hello.

Well, this week is International Delurking Week, and you are morally obligated to leave a comment. It doesn’t have to be a pithy comment, or a witty comment, or a verbose comment. Just say hello, for goodness sake. I don’t ask much (okay, so that’s a lie, I shamelessly ask for stuff all the time), but today I’m asking, nay impelling you, to give up a little comment in return.

(Props to Paper Napkin for the idea, and the funky graphic. Go say hello to Sheryl and pick up a graphic of your own!)

Now go forth and comment on all your favourite blogs. Share the bloggy love!

  1. Friday comment game – it’s all about you! I’ve been staring at this empty interface for long enough. I give up, I got nothing for you today. Well, that’s not exactly true. I’ve got a rant about diapers, but I think it follows a little too closely on my rant about BBQ chips and my rant about punctuation...
  2. Delurk, and guess that birthdate! Sometimes things come together rather fortuitously on the blog. For example, although yesterday seems to have been Official Delurk Day, when we’ve done it in past years, it has been a week long event, so I don’t think I’m breaking any invioble rules by playing along today. (Thanks to Greeblemonkey...
  3. Some thoughts on comments and comment spam I‘ve been thinking about comments lately. It was Delurking Day the other day, and I got an interesting e-mail from a reader. She asked me why bloggers think comments are so important. She noted that we as site owners can plainly see the traffic, so why do we want people...
  4. Random blog silliness I know, I still owe you a post for Tristan’s birthday. It’s okay, as long as I get it in before he’s old enough to read, I’m good. In the meanwhile, in lieu of anything particularly thought provoking or time consuming, I thought I’d steal this idea from Mama Tulip....
  5. I’ve gone international! Now appearing in… Florida? You’re probably going to laugh at this. You’re going to roll your eyes, and you’re going to try not to laugh at with me, but you’re not going to be able to help yourself. Guess which newspaper I’m in today?Give up? The Tampa (!!) Tribune! Guess which section? The food (!!)...

OH, you know me. When I don’t lurk, I comment six times in one sitting. Do you really want me to comment more?

2 Suzanne January 9, 2007 at 5:46 pm

It’s that time of year already? I forgot about Delurking Week… I need Sheryl to come back from hiatus! Thanks for the reminder.

3 Farm Mommy Kirsten January 9, 2007 at 6:22 pm

I try to comment each time I visit so I don’t think I’m a lurker! It was your blog that got me into blogging and reading others so thank you!

4 Rebecca January 9, 2007 at 6:36 pm

Cooee.
Am I a lurker? I dunno. I found you around the time of Frostie’s implant, I can’t remember via who or why, and liked your writing and stayed to watch.
Glad you’re in a cheery mood today.

This is my first blog comment… well… ever, actually. Love your writing, love your blog.
Okay, I’m taking a big breath and hitting “publish”.

6 mamatulip January 9, 2007 at 6:44 pm

HEY YOURSELF! ;)

8 Alissa January 9, 2007 at 7:16 pm

Hi. :-)
Regular reader, just never felt like I had anything important enough to say so I stayed quiet.
Love your writing. I’m here with each update.

9 honeymom January 9, 2007 at 7:33 pm

Hi!
Not lurking, just enjoying :)
Keep up the great writing!

10 Amy January 9, 2007 at 8:09 pm

Hello! I’ve been here before too… Sometimes I comment, most times I don’t, but I always enjoy!! Great blog-love it!

11 alison January 9, 2007 at 8:11 pm

I read most days, comment occasionally, enjoy always. Keep it up, Dani.

Happy De-Lurking Week!

Boo!

15 Oana January 9, 2007 at 10:00 pm

Hi!
Am also a regular reader, but not much of a commenter (mostly because I read blogs through Bloglines and there’s no easy “leave a comment” feature there). I enjoy your writing!

16 Rog January 9, 2007 at 10:17 pm

Not much of a commenter – I enjoy your readings same as the bird enjoys the sunny morning in the bird bath – sheer thrill of soaking in the vibrant maternal spirit in your writing gives a great start for the day.

17 JF January 9, 2007 at 10:49 pm

Ahoy! I think I commented before. Mainly I don’t because I don’t live in Canada, write, or have kids. But I love hearing your musings and all! (Originally arrived via Phantom.)

18 Rachel January 9, 2007 at 10:56 pm

Hey there! I’m a fellow Ottawa-ite, and I’ve loved reading your blog in the past 11 months since my son was born. It’s been great getting a view into the lives of boys a wee bit bigger than my own.

19 Nancy January 10, 2007 at 12:09 am

Hi again. I’m still around, though I haven’t visited around the blogsphere very much lately. :-)
Thanks for reminding me about Delurking week. I’d forgotten all about it!

25 SC January 10, 2007 at 3:00 am

If it weren’t for lack of time everyday, I would comment more…!! Your blog is the first one I read everyday, I visit links off your page and navigate my day from right here from the Mothership! Keep up the good work my friend!

26 twinmomplusone January 10, 2007 at 3:03 am

full time reader and loving it 100%, occasional commentor so guess that makes me a part-time lurker

27 Batman January 10, 2007 at 4:04 am

Dee-lurk…

28 Shan January 10, 2007 at 4:24 am

I have commented once, maybe twice before, but lets consider this my official delurking.
Love your blog.

29 Sally January 10, 2007 at 4:37 am

Howdy! Happy delurking week!

30 Kim January 10, 2007 at 4:43 am

Hi! I followed a link from Squidoo to your blog a couple months ago, and have read every day since! (Commenting once in a while). This is the only blog I’ve ever regularly read, and I love it! Happy Delurking Week!

31 mrsgryphon January 10, 2007 at 5:48 am

34 DaniGirl January 10, 2007 at 12:29 pm

Holy crap, er, I mean, HELLO! What a lovely surprise to “meet” so many of you for the first time.
And look how clever and funny and nice you are… y’all should speak up more often!

35 Andrea January 10, 2007 at 3:45 pm

Okay, okay I am delurking JUST because you asked so nicely! I read your blog practically religiosly. I am not a mother yet but am looking forward to starting soon and I love to hear all your stories of motherhood plus your daily ramblings. It is so entertaining!! Keep it Up!

36 Fryman January 10, 2007 at 4:20 pm

Hey D – long time reader, many time commenter, and my therapist prefers the term ‘showing passive, noncommital interest’ rather than ‘lurking’.

37 cinnamon gurl January 10, 2007 at 6:40 pm

Wow! you actually made people delurk… good job. Ok, I’m gonna have to check out that link and try again on my own blog…

38 Shelley January 10, 2007 at 6:52 pm

Delurking to say -I stop by often. Have a great day!

39 jennP January 10, 2007 at 6:58 pm

delurking out of moral obligation :) i’m just shy! :)

40 Domestic Goddess January 10, 2007 at 9:11 pm

Oh, I’ve been lurking for a while now. I really enjoy your style of writing and find myself coming back frequently for updates…I’ve been reading since well before the last frostie implant and have to say that I really admire the courage and strength that you demonstrated through that time. My husband and I are planning to start trying for our first baby later this year and I am very paranoid that we will have problems. Both my sister and my mom have had several miscarriages and I’m quite nervous that I will face the same plight. My hat comes off to you. Keep writing!

41 swultragirl January 10, 2007 at 9:46 pm

*waves* :)

42 Terry January 11, 2007 at 2:21 am

Well, I’ve left a few comments, but not many, so i guess I’m a lurker. I like reading blogs, but am always short on time, so read only yours on a regular basis. I really like your style of writing, and also seeing what life with 2 preschoolers is like. I have one 19 month old and a crazy job, so I like to read your blog for a breather! Keep up the great work.

43 Cristen January 11, 2007 at 5:38 am

Awww, I really like lurking. And since I’m in my pj’s, I don’t think it’s right to comment. My brain is already sleeping.

44 jennyandtim January 11, 2007 at 1:01 pm

Does looking equate us to a groupie, a stalker, or a secret admirer?

45 jennyandtim January 11, 2007 at 1:22 pm

Should be lurking, not looking. That would make one a peeping tom.

46 nancy January 11, 2007 at 3:39 pm

Haloscan FINALLY letting me comment to you!! It’s been days….
Here I am waving!!!
But I am hardly a lurker, more like a stalker.
xo

47 Kris January 11, 2007 at 7:38 pm

Delurking here — love your blog! But you know that already.

48 Kari January 11, 2007 at 9:35 pm

49 Libby January 11, 2007 at 11:12 pm

50 Susan P January 12, 2007 at 8:47 pm

First time reading your blog–but it sure looks like a popular one. So, I’m saying hello and I’ll be back.

51 killlashandra January 10, 2008 at 4:04 pm

I think this is a cute idea. So I’m leaving a comment, as I found you while researching the origins of delurking. ;)
