Another seasonal favourite post to re-share this holiday season! I think this is also Lucas’s favourite blog post that I have ever written. He often asks me to show him “the story with Willie and the red ball.”

There I was, minding my own business, playing with the Charlie Brown Christmas tree and taking pictures of the reflections in the shiny red ball …

… when all of a sudden — dun dun DUN — I saw him: the Creeping Mischief Monster!

A Christmas Story (2 of 4)

And even more terrifyingly, at that exact moment, he noticed it. The shiny red ball!!

After that, you knew this was inevitable.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

;)

Since I published this post in 2011, the photo of mischevious Willie and that tempting red ornament has become one of my best-selling photos on Getty Images. It has appeared on the web

…on the pages of Good Housekeeping magazine…

…and most recently just last month on the pages of USA Today.

Found in the wild (again!) - Misbehavin' Willie

Silly old cat!

  2. A conversation with Willie the Cat It’s 5:15 am. Willie the cat is sitting on me as I huddle under the blankets and try to ignore him. Willie: Hey. You. Get up. I’m hungry. Me: Ugh, Willie. Go back to sleep. It’s early. Willie: You have to get up. I heard you shifting. I know you’re...
  3. The 100 push-ups challenge – week four! Maybe it’s because I had to call a do-over for week 3, or maybe it’s because I’m starting to build up some actual upper body strength, but you know what? The push-ups weren’t so hard last week. In fact, on Day 2 of Week 3, I just about breezed through...
  4. To declaw or not to declaw? More than 20 years ago when I adopted my first cat from the humane society, getting her declawed was a no-brainer. Everyone I knew who owned a cat had it done. When Beloved arrived in my life in 1995 with his two cats, they too were already declawed (the cats,...
  5. This week in pictures: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! It’s been a while since I posted the weekly picture round-up. I’ve been taking a photo most days, but especially through November there were a handful of days I skipped. I missed it, though, and though I should have finished my third 365 project tomorrow, I’m running about a week...
