Fantastic Summer Camp Giveaway from our newest sponsor, Starr Gymnastics

You know I’m fairly selective about the companies that I endorse, and even more so for the ones that I accept as sponsors for the blog. That’s why I’m extra excited today to be able to tell you about our latest sponsor, an amazing Ottawa company that I’ve been appreciating for years. And! They’re offering up an amazing giveaway to boot!

Welcome to our newest bloggy sponsor, Starr Gymnastics! Look, there’s the new ad over on the sidebar —>>>

Awesome, eh?

I’ve mentioned before how much our family loves Starr Gymnastics. We’ve had several birthday parties there, and both big boys have been registered in their excellent gymnastics programs for a few years running. We’ve even done a week-long summer camp, back in the day. (It’s funny for me to read that summer camp post — seems like yesterday, but it was 2007 when Simon is the age Lucas is now!)

I’ve always found Starr Gymnastics to have high-quality, well-supervised programs and have never hesitated to recommend their programs to anyone. Recently, the folks at Starr got in touch to say thanks for my enthusiastic recommendations, and together we cooked up this great summer camp giveaway for you!

Starr Gymnastics offers three types of Summer Camp programs: half-day, full-day in-house and full-day outdoor adventure camps. Here’s the description for the full-day indoor program:

The In-House camp will be a week full of amazing gymnastics activities, cooperative games, theme day surprises and the introduction of our Starr Bouncy Castles! For a whole afternoon, the athletes will be learning real circus tricks and jumping all over the place. On other days, their time is filled with Arts and Crafts, learning proper gymnastics skills, and preparing for the BIG SHOW TIME where parents are invited to watch their athlete(s) fly through the air in a special demo! It’s the most fun you can have under one roof!

And this is the outdoor adventure camp description:

For those athletes who want to see everything the summer has to offer, Starr has created its very own outings camp which will take you to the moon and back! The week will have the same great gymnastics component as always, along with the favourites like Theme Days and BIG SHOW TIME demonstrations! We have added swim time out of the centre and a major outing that will take the entire day on Thursdays! The athletes will taste the fresh air whether it’s a trip to the park for some organized games, outdoor theme activities, splashing around the pool or even sailing their own pirate ship with real pirates! The Starr Outdoor Adventure Camp is going to be a blast with memories that will last a lifetime!

You can read more about the programs, including weekly themes and daily schedules, on the Starr Gymnastic summer camp page.

Doesn’t that sound like fun? And the awesome peeps at Starr Gymnastics are offering you the chance to win one full week of summer camp at any of their three Ottawa locations (1140 Morrison Drive, 2766 Lancaster Road or 520 Lacolle Way). Here’s the details:

  1. awe.some!

best summer memories when i was a kid include canoe camp (through guiding) and trips to florida. yep driving down for three days, no a/c in the car and lining up for hours in the 100 degree temperature at disney. loved it!

  2. My girls have loved there time at Starr as well. I’ve been debating about sending them to a camp this year because the cost is a bit prohibitive for sending both so this giveaway would be a huge help!

My favorite summer memory is all the time at our family cottage that we luckily still have.

  3. great giveaway, thanks!
my favourite memories are roaming feral on the beaches in PEI and devouring as many Enid Blyton books as I could handle!

  4. My most fond summer camp memory was at Girl Guide camp … it rained so much that our blow-up mattresses were floating inside the tent!

    Awesome giveaway! 🙂

  5. My favorite summer memory is of going to the Markham Fair when I was 6 and getting incredibly muddy.

My son is currently enrolled in gymnastics at Starr and adores it!

  6. That would be so cool. DH and I were just saying we should enroll my 6yo in gymnastics and I had never thought of a summer camp 🙂

  7. My all time favourite summer memory is of the summer I spent just wandering local nature trails on my bike, with a couple of good friends. We collected insects, played board games, rode for hours and came home muddy and exhausted.

The Little Man is nuts for any tumbling-related these days and would sure get a kick out of a week of gymnastics camp! Will I date myself if I complain about the boring, ho-hum camps I got sent to as a child (Girl Guides camps where we could play with fire excepted)? Love that there are so many great options out there these days!

  8. Amelia had her party there this year. SHe LOVED it. So did her friends, so much that her best friend is having her party there in a couple of weeks!

My best summer memories were of the local outdoor pool, affectionately nicknamed “The NAD”. The Natatorium was about seven blocks from my house and I lived there with my friends all summer. My mother would present me with a pool pass on my last day of school and she wouldn’t see me until September. It was located on the boardwalk so we would swim and sun all day and then walk up and down the boardwalks.

Oh that and a younger memory…there is nothing like a giant street game of hide and seek at 9pm on a summer night!!!

  9. My favourite summer memory is having big family/friend picnics at the beach, with the good old charcoal grill, everyone relaxed and having a ball!

  10. One of my favourite memories is camping in the Okanagan with pick-your-own apricots and peaches, weeping willow trees where you could play hide and seek, and campfires with sing-a-longs on the beach late at night.

  11. My favourite summer memories were taking our summer vacation road trips where we’d drive, eat, sleep, shop our way across Canada and the USA. Just my Mom, Dad and I having fun and discovering new places.

  12. What a great prize 🙂
My favourite summer memory is hanging out by the beach and spending hours playing the the warm sand and the cool water with my brother and my cousin.
    Cheers!

  13. We love Starr! My fave summer memory is driving across Cananda from MB to BC with my my family.

  14. My kids love Starr! One of my good memories of summer was going to a rented cottage for a week and having so much to do.. swimming, fishing, marshmallows by the fire pit, board games, etc.

  15. I have lots of great memories of travelling, swimming, and best of all summer camp. But this is what first flashed into my mind today, a scenario that played itself out repeatedly:

I remember waking up and coming downstairs, still in my nightie, and out the back door to find my mother in the garden. If she wasn’t in the kitchen as I passed through it was pretty much guaranteed she’d be outside working among the vegetables and other plants (as a mom now myself, I know she was grabbing some peace and quiet doing what she loved before my sister and I were up!). I can still feel the paving stones of the walkway beneath my feet, cool enough in the shade of the house to make me hop from foot to foot but sun-warmed farther out. I can smell the sunshine and growing things and hear Peter Gzowski’s voice drifting through the open kitchen window. Mom was always excited to see me, and soon the day would get started … but it’s that moment in the sunshine watching my mom that sticks in my mind.

We’re fans of Starr Gymnastics, and I’d love the opportunity to send my daughter to summer camp there.

  16. Our favourite summer memory was when we rented a cottage on a lake and spent every day together, as a family enjoying the sun, water and time together. We became closer as a family because of this week together and realized “hey! Not only do we love each other, but we actually like each other too!!!” Needless to say we did the same thing last year!

  17. We would so love to win!
It is impossible to chose my favourite summer memory, but definitely a contender is how, as soon as I could ride a bike, my mom would ride with me for a day at the local park with a pool, where she would set up camp with her book and I’d splash and play with the other kids till exhausted. Then there would be books and relaxing until the best part – a stop for an ice cream treat at the corner store on the way home!

  18. My favourite summer memories were of having lots of sleepovers at my grandparents. Getting lots of treats there and playing my “other” set of friends! 🙂

  19. My 7 yr-old son would love to go to camp at Starr Gymnastics! We’ve been to a few parties there and had one there ourselves! My favourite summer memory is definitely spending summers up at my grandparents cottage up North. It was on an island and I love to canoe, swim and have steam baths and jump in the lake.

  20. One of my favourite memories of summer is being about four and there was a heatwave of about 40+ C weather for about 4/5 days straight. We had no AC & only one car which my father took to work. So we stayed in our bathroom and read books and chatted all day. Me in the shower recess, my mum on the cold floor and my brother in the bath.

Even better is the contemporary ‘adult’ version of this story. My dad, in AC, went outside to pick up lunch for 5 minutes and calls my mother to tell her how he can’t believe how hot it is. To the woman in a non-AC house with 2 kids under six during a 40+ heatwave.

Cracks me up all the time 🙂
