You’ll FLIP over my latest giveaway!

Remember back a few months ago, I told you about our new Flip MinoHD? Thanks to Mom Central, I can now give away another Flip MinoHD to one of you in the “You’ll Flip for the Holidays” giveaway.

Mom Central is asking to whom would you give a Flip and why. I’d say this is the perfect gift for just about anyone — of course, it’s especially good for those of you with wee ones. Face it, it’s a lot of work hauling the camcorder down out of the closet, making sure it’s charged, and getting it out of it’s bag every time you want to shoot some video. By the time you’re ready, the moment has passed. You know I’m not exactly good about putting things back where they belong anyway, but I do always have the Flip close at hand, and it’s easy to just slip it into a drawer in a central location where I can get to it in a flash. Or, erm, just leave it lying out on the cabinet, amongst the camera lenses and other clutter, where at least it’s easy to get to!

Entering is easy; just leave a comment below telling me to whom you would give the Flip this holiday season and why. (Please note, this is not “tell me whom you would flip off this holiday season”. That’s an entirely different blog post!!)

Here’s the fine print:

  1. Sorry, but this giveaway is only open to Canadian residents, age 18 years or older.
  2. To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me who you in your life you would give the Flip to and why. Go ahead, nominate yourself! (I promise I won’t follow up in January to make sure you actually gave it to Uncle Joe.)
  3. Please note that it’s you, the person making the nomination and not your nominee, who is entered into the contest.
  4. You must leave your comment before 12 pm EST on December 31, 2009.
  5. Only one comment entry per person will be counted.
  6. You can enter one additional time by tweeting “Win a Flip MinoHD from @danigirl and @MC_Canada: http://tinyurl.com/y8k2nl7 #Flip4holiday.” IMPORTANT: you must leave a comment linking to your tweet, because there’s more than one blogger using the same hash tag and I need to be able to find your tweet to enter you in the contest!
  7. One winner will be chosen by using the random number generator at random.org, selected from all eligible entries.
  8. You must be willing to share your full name and mailing address with me, and I will pass it along to Mom Central Canada, who will ship the prize directly to the winner.

Good luck, and thanks to Flip and Mom Central Canada for yet another fun giveaway!!

  1. Um, so, yeah. I’d give it to my best friends who are currently using the video function on their four year old digital point and shoot camera to take the cutest short videos of their kids.

  2. I would give the flip to a good friend of mine. Struggling with a learning disability all her life most things do not come easy to her. However she has recently discovered a passion in making her own short movies. They’re silly and fun, but she really seems to have some talent for it. Unfortunately the only thing she has to make these films on is a very low pixel digital camera. The flip would be a perfect gift for her.

  3. I would give the flip to my brother, who currently has an (almost) 11-month-old, and will be adding twins to the mix in a few months time. Since they live in Toronto, and I rarely get to see them, they could use the flip to send me video of my niece (soon to be nieces and a nephew!) Goodness knows they won’t have time to use a regular video camera with three in diapers…

  4. Count me in, hubby and I would love a FlipHD to record baby#3 (and do some extra recording of boy#2 who has been neglected over the last 4 years). ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I would give a FlipHD to my sister-in-law, who has the cutest 20-month old and is trying for another.

  6. I would love to win a FlipHD! I entered the MomCentral contest, but alas, didn’t win. My nine-year-old loves to make short films on my 2005 digital camera (the latest one starred the cat and several Star Wars action figures), and I like to film her and her sister. Sadly, the camera is on its last legs, and the view screen doesn’t work. Please enter me.

  7. I would love to win a FlipHD for my husband. He has been coveting one for over a year but I find it hard to justify the expense. But this year he has put it on his Christmas list…in fact, it’s the only thing he has requested. And, we now have a golden doodle puppy that gets cuter by the minute, and we’re losing our opportunities to memorialize her puppyhood because we don’t have a FlipHD!

  8. You are so awesome… OK, here’s my nomination: me. And here’s why: As you may know (and if not, you know it now) my blog is about me and my family and our life in Canada as latinamerican immigrants. The blog is followed by nearly 1200 people everyday, most of which are in their way to this country. Most of them, as future immigrants and residents in Canada, are curious about every single aspect of living in Canada, from how much does a bus fare cost up to how do you rise your children and all in between. I’d be able to show them so many things I cannot now! ๐Ÿ™

  9. I would give the flip to my Husband. His passion for photography has suffered with our lack of budget. The flip would let him explore video and wonders of it with a toddler. It would allow him to share the moments with all the family out west. It would let him learn a new skill and a new way of capturing images.

  10. I’ll totally give it to my Mom. She’s still using a film camera and has never had anything video-related. She’d love it and since she’s pretty savvy from a technology point of view, she’d master in no time.

  11. I would love to give one to my brother and SIL…they have a new baby, an old video camera, and not a ton of money!

  12. Wow – i would give to ME!!!
i have four wonerful kids and we do take a lot of pictures of them but it would be so wonderful to take some vidoes too. the last camera we had we received at our wedding in 1995 – and it is a wee bit outdated as you can imagine…

    Happy Holidays.

  13. I may need to quit reading your blog… you tease with such great giveaways and they’re never available to me. *cries.

  14. I would give it to my hubby who has an idea for photography and I think he would take awesome videos of our almost 4 year old who has never had a video taken of him. I realize now that in twenty or so years when he goes to all his friends weddings and sees the wonderful videos of their younger years that he will only have the “old fashion” photo memories!

  15. Okay, I’m going to be selfish here and say that I would want this for myself. It looks awesome!

  16. I would totally give it to me. I was just thinking that I don’t have ANY Christmas or birthday videos of the kids. I need ammunition for teenage years!

  17. Oh, so selfish this holiday season…. but me. I would love to take better videos of the kids to share with our family out east! I guess that negates the selfishness, right?

  18. I think I would give it to my daughter – she loves taking videos but her camera eats batteries and doesn’t focus well. She’d love it.

  19. Honestly, I would give it to me. I never haul out the camcorder to take video of the boys and I know I am going to look back on this time in my life when I stayed home with them as the most precious time yet I’m not documenting it. Sadly I’m afraid I won’t remember it all too soon. Not eloquent or generous, but true.

  20. I would give it to my husband who is taking a crack at being a SAHD to our 3 boys. He could capture more of thier day to day life together during this special time.

  21. I think this is the perfect gift for a friend of mine how loves to travel around the world… He just came from Japan with tons of pictures and stories. Since he owns (and carry) Canon revel with 2 or 3 lents sets, this Flip MinoHD is perfect for him… I’m looking forward to get his stories in video!!!!
    THX DaniGirl!!!

  22. I would definitely give this to my husband. We have a camcorder that uses tapes and we find it’s so cumbersome we rarely pull it out. Plus the movies it takes are difficult to edit. My husband would love something like the Flip, which is so much easier to use.

  23. I would nominate my aunt. She has wanted one since this past summer when Pepsi was having a contest where you could win them every hour. She spent alot of time trying to win one but didn’t manage to.

  24. Squeee! What a fabulous giveaway!

I’d give a Flip MinoHD to my husband to capture all those silly/funny moments that I keep missing with my crazy work hours. That would be awesome!

  25. The Flip sounds so neat (do people say “neat” anymore?!)…My family and friends either have video cameras already or could buy one if they wanted one, so I would donate the Flip to our local foodbank. There are some families in our town who’s apartment building burnt down earlier this year and the foodbank has been helping them out – I’m sure that one of those families would love to have it.

  26. Selfish, selfish, selfish — I would give this to my hubby, so that *I* could use it, of course! We can take videos on our digital camera, but there is a time limit and I keep thinking I’d love for us to have a video camera of some kind. But I love that you have some really wonderful and generous readers, don’t you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Captcha: Whipped economy

  27. I can’t be all nice and generous on this one. I would keep it for myself. With the jellybean being 2.5 he is constantly coming up with the most hysterical things and I would love to be able to capture them on film. The little digital snippets I can get on my camera just don’t cut it. It would be the best Merry Christmas for me!

  28. I nominate my husband since he complains about the lack of video we have of our kids so far. He would triple love this.

  29. Oh oh oh!! I would love a Flip but I guess I would give it to my Mom if I *had* to give it to anyone. She’s always using the video feature on her point and shoot.

  30. A Flip is on my husband’s wish list this year. Because I dropped our camera in the ocean last year on vacation. It only had a three-minute capability for video with sound, but still – it allowed us to tape Josephine singing “You are my SUNshine, my only SUNSHINE, you make me hapEEEEE when skies are graaaaaay. You’ll never know DEEER, how much I lo ”

So I would give it to him so that he would stop giving me the stink eye every time she does something cute that we’d have on video if I had just worn my darn wrist strap.

  31. I would definitely give it to my husband. We’ve suddenly realized that baby number 2 has been woefully underdocumented. She is fantastic and I think that video is the only way to really capture the whirlwind of a 18month old.

  32. I would give it to my husband – he covets one. Back in his younger days , he loved his VHS camcorder, but eventually had to sell it to make rent. He’s wanted one ever since, and has been feeling that the time is right, with HD cameras now widely available. He’d love being able to record the kids for more than the few minutes we can manage on our digital camera! Thanks for running this contest!

  33. What a great giveaway! Everywhere I look people are talking about the flips, buying the flips. flipping this and flipping that!

I’d give it to my hubby to capture the moments between my two boys and I. Being a SAHM to two, all my pictures thus far are of my boys. None of me! I’d love to have some of the crazy things we get into, videotaped so I can embarass them later on. That’s what mothers are for, isn’t it?

  34. Well, I’m inclined to keep it for myself, but my mom would probably love it, too. She’s all about capturing her first grandson’s moments.

  35. I would give it to my better half. He’s great at making video montages of his friends. He’s really talented when it comes to these sorts of things.

  36. I would give it to my lovely wife Anne Marie, simply because she was nice enough to nominate me already! I think that is a good reason, don’t you?

  37. I would give it to my sister, Jacquie, so she could take adorable videos of my lovely new neice and send them to me every day! I miss them both so much!

  38. I would give it to my mum. She’s an amazing amateur photographer, and I would love to see what she’d do with video! Plus she could capture all the great fun at my sisters’ houses, who live too far away from me.

  39. My youngest sister had a baby two days ago! I would definitely give it to her, because she lives far and I need much, much more baby video in my life. No amount is too much! Already I’ve looked at the one photo we have of him like, a million times.

  40. I would give it my husband Stephen. We have 5 kids (2, 4, 6, 8, 10) and a huge 10 year old video camera. I haul it out roughly 4 times a year to take some footage but it is getting harder and harder to find the tapes. If we had a small convenient one I know he would take videos all the time – which is what we need because the moments with 5 go by even quicker and with time start to blend together. Also, the younger ones have begun to notice there are not as many tapes about them! Oh oh.

  41. Gotta be honest – I’d give it to me ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’d hope that it doesn’t have the same blinking light that my regular camera has when it takes videos – my son will be doing something cute, so I’ll try to capture it, and the blinking always distracts him. I have about a million videos of him staring at the blinking light on the camera.

  42. I’d give it to my hubby who is currently envious of my DSLR. Oh, he says he’s not, but he is. And then I’d make him share it.

  43. Can I give it to our family? Specifically my husband…I’m always the one taking pics/videos and am never in them. So, if he has his own gadget, maybe I’ll be IN my kids memories!!

  44. I would send it to our niece in Germany. When her son was 2 they were posted here, and we would ‘borrow’ him regularly. He was a surrogate grandchild. After 4 years here, they left for Germany in June ’08 with their second child just 6 months old. We don’t see nearly enough of the kids by videoconferencing once a month. We miss them terribly.

  45. I’d give the Flip to my lovely wife! She’s always saying we don’t have enough video of our kids and the Flip sounds like it’d be perfect for us.

  46. I’d give it to my daughter (my daughter in law already has one) because I am not doing so well getting videos of my grandchildren off my bulky camcorder and onto something more viewable. I might borrow it from her occasionally as well ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. i would probably gift it to my husband, that way we can keep it haha! thank you for the chance to win.

  48. I would give it to my son because I would love to watch the hilarious videos he comes up with!!!

  49. I would love to win it for myself.
I never remember to video because ours is so bulky-this would be great!

  50. I’d love to give it to my school, so we could use it for all sorts of fun projects in the classroom and around the school.

  51. Like Marianne, I would flip it to Sam’s school. I’m the School Council chair and we just had a group of teachers present their case for more tech. in the classroom — there is soooo much cool stuff the K-8’s can do these days, and our relatively “poor” school is missing out. Thanks for the chance to win this!

  52. I would give the camera to me, myself, and I. I have been dying for one of these… I actually asked for one for Christmas, but winning it would be soooo much nicer. I am pracitcally pushing my son down every time he stands up, as I don’t want him to walk until I get one of these bad boys, so I can capture the moment in HD – its all about the HD in my world.

Thanks Dani for another fabulous give away!

  53. I would love to have this camera for my husband, he really wants one, and he is the photographer in our family.

  54. I would love one for myself since we’re expecting our first baby this May (!!!) but instead I think we’d share it more as a family device available to moms and dads and cousins all around us on both sides who all have different activities and events going on all the time. Thanks!

  55. Please don’t be sorry its for Canadians!! lol. We never get the awesom ones! And this is AWESOME!!!

I would give this to my son. He is a budding videographer and just the right age for this. Thank you for the opportunity and for it being open to Canadians!!!

  56. If we win, this little toy will be added to my blog’s cooking arsenal. We’ll vlog (video blog) recipes on foodiePrints, not just blog with pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

  57. I have to nominate myself. 2 little kids that are growing far to quickly in front of me = need for a Flip ๐Ÿ™‚

    Great contest!

  58. I would give it to my sister who lives in Europe so we could be more connected with what goes on in her life.
