This third child will be the one that does all the frightful things that the first two never did, won’t he? Now that poor old mom is too worn down to properly fight back.
Standing on the peanut butter jar (!) so he can reach deeper into the pantry. He’s all of 14 months old and can’t even WALK yet, for goodness sake!!

- Peanut butter toast I would like to ask you all a question, but first a caveat. This is likely to be a sensitive topic with strong feelings on either side – which is why I’d like to examine it. I’d like to make a special effort here to ask you to be respectful...
- The not-yet-toddling menace I am finding this particular stage of Lucas’s development exhausting. No, really? EXHAUSTING. Also exasperating, challenging, and frustrating. (And, to be fair, delightful and charming and wonderful.) But mostly, exhausting. He stubbornly refuses to walk on his own, even though he can stand with no problem, has walked across the...
- From my mouth to his ears You know those times when you hear your own words coming from your kids’ mouths, and how unsettling it is? We’re in the van. Tristan is in the middle row with Lucas, and Simon is in the back row. Lucas is just waking up, and Tristan is leaning over to...
- Brown bag angst I’m thinking about it all the time right now, and whatever I am thinking about is inevitably what populates blog. Might as well make it formal. I’m hereby declaring it Food Week here on the blog. Today, brown bag angst. Later, sample “menus” (I use the term loosely) based on...
- H1n1 vaccines, Canadian babies denied Baby Einstein refund, and other miscellany I read with interest the story in the media this weekend of how the Walt Disney Company is offering refunds on the purchase of Baby Einstein DVDs, after the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood challenged the idea that the DVDs were a teaching tool rather than simply brain candy for...

It’s simply awesome!
I can imagine your internal deliberation “Please do not fall’till I click! Please”!
Have a good day
And there in lies the beauty of this. If it was child number one, perhaps even number two, you never would have left him precariously balanced on the jar to capture the moment. It was meant to be…
i say smart boy! how brilliant that he’d even think to do that….
Bwahahahahaha!
Love it! Smart boy!
This photo made me laugh out loud! I knew there was a reason I keep the peanut butter jars where my 18-month-old can’t reach them …
I love that you were able to get a picture…but can’t imagine the thoughts going through your head now. He’ll keep you busy!
Oh my!
Good luck!
wow…, um. good luck…
(psst – i’m back with a new url…)
I am still so thankful that Max isn’t a climber, even at two. Good luck with all that!
Yes, truly farked is what you are
My third is a climber too. She will be 15 months next week and I have already found her IN the bathroom sink after moving a stool over to the sink so she could climb up and ON TOP of the BACK of the toilet pulling tissues out of a Kleenex box.
I thought girls just sat and played with dolls
?????
And check out his balance on that peanut butter jar. Future hockey star, without a doubt.
That is great… I’ve got a pic of my x month old on her tippy-toes operating a mouse for our computer.
If they want it – they’ll figure something out. BTW – it only gets worse once they become teenagers…
LOL your in for it!
