More free stuff!

Okay, so I know it’s been ages since I’ve given you any real good reason, content-wise, to keep coming back here. Once we get into a new routine next month, I’m sure things will improve. Well, that and once we get over all these viruses. Oh yeah, and when birthday season is done (all three boys in the next six weeks), then I’ll be back in top form. Yeah, I’m sure that will work out!

Anyway, ahem, as long as I keep throwing you bribes, you promise to keep waiting for me?

Last summer, I raved about the Barenaked Ladies new kids’ CD, Snacktime. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a second copy in the mail not long after I purchased tickets for their Ottawa holiday show, along with an autographed picture of the band. (A nice touch, I thought.) And I suppose the third copy I received last week, also with a return address of BNL’s label, Nettwerk, was some sort of apology for the last-minute postponement of the concert due to the death of one of the Ladies’ mothers, although I can’t be sure because it arrived in an envelope with no note of explanation. Regardless, when we received the second copy I was content to keep one in the car and one for backup, but in the age of digital music I really don’t need a third copy.

All this to say (sheesh, no wonder I don’t blog anymore, it takes me bloody forever to get to the point!) I have a free, factory-sealed copy of the Barenaked Ladies’ Snacktime CD for kids and it’s yours for the asking. Just leave a comment and tell me why you want it, and I’ll do a random draw on Saturday, January 31.

  1. OH OH OH!

Because you know me and love me and I LOVE THE LADIES! And so Does Nathan….
I will even save you the stamp and drive over and pick it up after class on day and bring you a coffee!
And as a University Student I have no extra cash to buy such an amazing cd.
(I know I’m pushing the limits on this)

I have a HUGE Crush on Steven Page!

    so PICK ME !PICK ME!
Now I have to go back to my essay and try to think!

    Sharon Newton!
DId I say I love the ladies yet?

  2. Ooohhhh…. would love me a copy kid friendly music that’s friendly to moms and dads too! (Plus, very big fan of BNL!)

(And offspring would like to listen to something other than boring parental music too!)

  3. I would love this CD because my husband LOVES LOVES LOVES The Barenaked Ladies (almost as much as he loves The Hip) and we are expecting our first child at the end of March. I know my husband would love to be able to play music for our little one that he likes as well. Plus if we win it will justify all the time last year I spent reading your blog and catching up on ALL your archives ๐Ÿ™‚ My husband STILL reminds me about all those evenings…!

  4. I would love this CD because the music that my son currently listens to in the car, a mixed CD of Barney/the Wiggles/random standards is DRIVING ME INSANE. Need new decent tunes.

  5. I would love it too! My husband and I have been big fans of the BNL ever since the early days. This sounds like a great way to introduce them to our daughter.

  6. I would love this CD because singing and music keeps my 8 month old happy for whole minutes at a time, and therefore helps to keep me from going crazy. Also, we only have 2 kids CDs and I`m too lazy to download anything kid-friendly from iTunes, and the repetitive-ness is starting to get to me. Also, I like the Barenaked Ladies.

  7. I would love this CD because I really enjoy BNL. My 14 month old daughter loves music, but I’m getting a little tired of the only kids cd we own! Plus, I’d enjoy sharing it with my grade 2 class at school as part of our study of music.

    Captcha: presente ing

  8. I DON’T want it because I already have a copy, But I did want to say that my husband, my sons and I love this CD so much that we bought it as the thank you gift for my youngest son’s birthday party last summer. My 5 yo even knows all the words (and so do I!). Love it! Whoever wins it will be a lucky person.

  9. I would love this CD because we don’t own any kids CDs YET – and this would be our very first one for E, and I would love to tell him 20 years that his first CD was one he won from a very cool woman off of a very cool blog!! (over the top?? nah)!!

  10. I’ll keep reading regardless of any giveaways! You’ve got the kind of work/kid balance that I wish I had (4 days a week). (I would’ve had it if I hadn’t been laid off during my second mat leave.) And you’re Canadian. And you’re funny. (Not listed in order of importance.)

Anyhow, I would love to win this CD because we desperately need some quality kids music that doesn’t make me want to stab my eyeballs with sharp, pointy things.

    Chili.

  11. I would like the BNL kids’ CD because it is my personal belief that if Laurie Berkner is going to be so involved in my kids’ lives, it should manifest in other ways, not just the 4 CDs in constant rotation…like midnight bathroom trips, driving carpool, etc. Because she has her OWN child, I beg you to release her of that responsibility to *my* rugrats. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I would love it because I love the Ladies’ from way back when and my kids’ love Ed’s Up. (the show starring Ed Robertson…)

  13. Why I want it? Heck, who wouldn’t? Let’s there’s:
    * BNL fan — oh, those witty boys
    * music = happy
    * we had 3 or 4 solid weeks of -35 degree weather and who’s to say it’s not going to happen again? It IS the Yukon. And there is no way we are going outside with two kids, one only 2 months old when it’s -35.
    * because I am totally NOT sucking up when I tell you that giveaways are not even a little bit of the reason I keep reading your blog

  14. we’re a rock-bye lullabye family – but sometimes it gets a little toooo mellow. would love something fun to listen to!

  15. We’d love it to have an alternative to Philadephia Chickens on our upcoming drive to Toronto with the two year old and three month old …

  16. I’d love to have this because the only music I ever seem to listen to anymore is kids’ music and I really need something new and at least verging on hip. I used to be in the know music-wise and have a good collection. Now my musical knowledge is somewhere between The Wiggles and Dan Zanes. Help me!

  17. I’m always looking for different non-traditional kids music to share with my daycare kiddos. We listen to music pretty much all day long. Hope we win!

  18. Me too! I have heard such great things about it and am always meaning to get it but never do.

That and I am so done with HSM3 soundtrack. Please!

  19. Why should you give me the BNL kid’s cd? 1) I have only been able to see them in concert and I still rave about them, and 2) my 2 1/2 year old son loves to dance. He will dance in the car, in the mall, in church, and even in the doctor’s office. I think seeing him enjoy such a wonderful band would bring such joy to any mother who loves to see their child dance. If you give him the cd I will definitely post a video of him enjoying it on my blog (rondawhite.blogspot.com).

    Thanks for your consideration.

  20. Hmmmm. I know it is a completely random draw but everyone else is putting so much thought into their comments that I better step it up!

Why I would love to have my name drawn:

    1) It would be a great gift for my awesome cousin who is a teacher with developmentally delayed kids and she is always looking for cool classroom resources on a very limited budget. She already spends tons of her own money on books, supplies, etc. so it would be awesome to be able to contribute in a small way to the important work she is doing. Go, teachers, go!

    2) Who doesn’t love BNL? They put on an amazing show, their lyrics are hilarious, and they have been part of my life since I was a teenager. Hair shirts, anyone?

    3) Who doesn’t love winning cool stuff from a cool local and insightful blogger? There is that little frisson of excitment to win something!

  21. love BNL, especially after I met Ed in our local Lick’s – he, trying to be incognito, me (with my kids) acting like a teenager (and said kids wondering why I was so ga-ga).

I have every tune, except for these ๐Ÿ˜‰
