I know of a home in search of a dog. (No, not mine, but if you’ve been reading recently, you’ll know who.) If you might happen to know of anyone in the Ottawa area who knows of a big, friendly, mature dog in need of a good home, I’d love to hear from you. Ideally, the dog is well-socialized to people, tolerant with kids, decent on and off a leash, good for long walks and rides in the car, and playful without being overly hyperactive. E-mail me at danicanada (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll put you in touch with someone who would love to hear from you!
Edited to add: found one! They adopted a lovely year-old shepherd mix they found through petfinder.com and named her Max. I guess that takes “Max” out of the running for naming the Player to Be Named Later!

- The naming of Tristan Louis and Simon Francis A couple of weeks ago, Chantal from Breadcrumbs in the Butter ran a lovely series of posts about how each of her four kids came to be named. - From captcha oracle to captcha syndrome I’ve spent idle moments in the last week re-reading and thoroughly enjoying our bloggy adventures this time last year. - Tradespeople in Ottawa? I’m blatantly taking advantage of my burgeoning local audience with this. We need a few tradespeople to do some work around the house. We’ve managed to fritter away almost the entire summer without getting around to stripping and staining the deck, or getting the roof repaired, or washing the windows....
- Comment moderation enabled Sorry, folks. I’m not overly fond of captchas, but I had to do something to stop the flow of comment spam. I’ve installed a small captcha widget called reCAPTCHA that asks you to type two words before you comment. The upside is that by using this one, you’re helping to...

Seriously? My hubby’s work may be relocating us to Ireland for 6 mos. We have a rottweiler/lab cross that is well socialized with people (not dogs though) who we may need to find a temporary home for. She’s almost 8 yrs old, mostly obedient etc… We may be leaving in mid-Feb. Maybe they’d like to dogsit for 5-6 mos?
When we were looking for a dog, we used petfinder.com . Just enter the search criteria and a list of hundreds of needy dogs will pop up.
Thanks for the link to petfinder, M&C. Marla had sent it to me earlier today, which is how my parents found the dog they are in the process of adopting, if all goes according to plan!!
She’s a rescue dog, a young shep mix. Looks lovely! Keep your fingers crossed for them!
Looks like they found one pretty quick.
I know some lab/shep cross puppies that will be looking for a good home. They are rescues from a farm and will cost only the vacinations and neutering. Are they up for puppies though?
