Chantal at Breadcrumbs in the Butter (one of the funniest moms I know) tagged me for this meme on real moms. The idea is to use the phrase “real moms” as a writing prompt. I loved what she wrote, and had a hard time deciding where I wanted to go with this one.

Real moms laugh. A lot.

Now I’m supposed to tag five other people. Hmm, okay, I’d like to see what TwinMom, Nancy, Alison, Bub and Pie and Miche have to say.

  1. The diaper debate We’ve talked about circumcision and strollers, breast and bottle, slings and baby carriers. So far, though, I’ve avoided the cloth versus disposable diaper question because for me, it was never really a question. I’ve always used the disposables, and thought I always would. I’ve always suspected that even from an...
  2. In which she admits she didn’t know it all I think it’s a rite of passage as a mom (or dad) blogger to write at least a couple of posts about how the realities of actually parenting a child have chipped away at whatever moral resolve you might have had when you were childless, leaving your previously lofty standards...
  3. Ottawa Moms: Join the Breastfeeding Challenge! Did you know that in 2005, the National Capital Region came in first out of 234 participating locations in the breastfeeding challenge, with the largest number of participating mommies? He’d had weight-gain issues (though not as severe as Lucas’s) and the weekly weigh-ins provided me with an empirical validation that we were in fact doing at least...

I laughed and, yet, have a tear in my eye. Real moms are all that and more – or less – as is required on any given day. So glad that no mom was denied credit for her beliefs. There are many who do or would judge.

You are a Real Mom, because Real Moms don’t judge.
