A sad excuse for a post

in Simon

Simon doesn’t get sick too often, but he seems to be making up for lost time this week. He has a horrible, snotty head cold, a fever AND he’s barfing. Sheesh, I’m *so* very glad we got our flu shots last weekend. (insert eyeball roll here)

He’s also so incredibly grumpy and needy that I can’t even tear myself away for 10 minutes to write up a blog post. Hopefully more later… or maybe I’ll just see you tomorrow.

  1. A happy day for the sandwich generation You know what? We haven’t had a “yay day” around here in ages. On a sunny blue morning, it seems like a fine day to be grateful out loud. My biggest “yay” today is for my mom: she retired yesterday. Yay for retirement! Well, she actually retired a while back,...
  2. 32 minutes For the last two days, Lucas has been averaging a 32 minute nap, a couple of times per day. That would explain, for those of you who are hanging on my every word (hi Mom!), why posting has been so light this week. For what it’s worth, 32 minute naps...
  3. The Canadian-est invention ever It’s a reliable sign of the end of the Canadian winter. No, not the lengthening days, the appreciable warmth of the sun on a frosty day, not even the first day you decide you can safely leave the house in shoes rather than fur-lined mukluks. Spring is truly on the...
  4. And you wonder why I don’t post more often lately Inside my head: Oh, thank goodness, the baby is snoozing and I have three minutes to myself. Screw the laundry (and the dishwasher, and the vacuuming, and the boys’ room, and the gardening…) I’m going to seize this time for myself and write a blog post. **kicks boys off computer**...
  5. Mood swings I’ve been trying to write something all day, but whatever I’m feeling one minute I’m feeling the opposite the next, and it’s hard to generalize the flavour of a day that way. So why do I even feel I have to write anything? I admit, I’m beginning to see the...

Poor boy – and poor you. Cause you know it’s going to go around the household!
Isn’t illness at Christmas a tradition with you?

I hope he feels better very very soon. Poor little booper…

To Ingrid’s comment…after spending many a holiday season with DaniGirl, and can confirm that for her the holidays and sickness are synonymous (ain’t that the $10 word o’ the day!). And I have to admit, it isn’t always her, as I can remember spending a holiday drive from Ottawa to London dying in a passenger seat while she drove and sang Hip tunes….
Keep the cheer up D, it could be worse…all your boys could be sick at once!

At least now the misery will be drawn out – much less painful than all at once.
And thanks, Fryman, for the warning about not driving with Dani during the holidays!

Yucky. I hope everyone’s healthy and into their normal routine in no time!

Sorry to hear that Simon is sick! The doc says that it takes at least 2 weeks for a flu shot to become effective; it’s too bad they came available so late this year! Get better soon!

All my sympathies Dani.
Our three-year old has the SAME THING! Gah. At least it appears to be passing quickly thru the phases (knock wood) and the fever broke this morning. I’m officialy zombie mommy.
