Technophobia comes of age

I’m so proud of myself. I’m so hip to yesterday’s technology that it’s scary.

I didn’t tell you, but for Mother’s Day, Beloved and the boys got me an MP3 player. I have no idea how to use it. Beloved loaded it up with some songs he had on the computer already, including a little U2, some Billie Holiday, and Kenny Loggin’s “Danny’s Song”, the song that makes me cry every time I hear it. (There’s a line that goes, “Pisces Virgo-rising is a very good sign, strong and kind, and the little boy is mine.” Tristan is a Pisces. Also strong and kind. Also mine. Sniff.)

Someday, I’ll have enough time to find one of those music sites, and figure out how to use it, and actually choose some music. Anybody got any recommendations? Preferably something like MusicFor30somethingsThatDoesn’tSuck-
AndIsRiduculouslyEasyToUse.com?

And now, I’m writing this on my fancy-ass new laptop. I’ve never had a laptop before. Although it’s taken me a bit to get used to manipulating the little mouseless finger-tracing thing-me (don’t be threatened by my technological jargon) I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to get out of the basement and have a computer I can port around the house. Coincidentally, I noticed today that Ann also has a new laptop. It’s a banner day for mobile blogging!

So now I have a blog, a laptop and an MP3 player. The Luddites are going to revoke my membership for sure.

  1. NOT YOU TOO! I have to kepp up with the bloggers..damn…there goes food inthis house for a few weeks. Who needs to eat anyways.
    Congratulation on another laptop momma.
While I’m stuck with a normal (but fast PC) I guess when I get a satillite connect for my computer I will be up to date and fast…right?
    SCM Out of touch.

  2. Is that Wireless I hear?
Looks around office, dusts off some old nic cards, hmmm 1 super VGA video card, 7 IDE cards… and hmmm a spare wireless nic card, well isn’t that something.
And since Father’s Day is coming up I am sure beloved could use a shiny new wireless base station(the cheap part).
Close your eyes… now imagine, sitting on the patio, hot steaming mug of coffee, the boys playing gently in the grass, the morning sun caressing your skin, the soft sound of a mourning dove in the next yard and you sitting with your laptop connected to the interent and blogging.

  3. Okay, maybe the Luddites will have me back after all, cuz I didn’t understand a word UberGeek said except the part about the hot coffee. Even the bit about “boys playing gently in the grass” was a foreign language to me (having neither gentle boys nor servicable grass.)

  4. I can barely keep my eyes open at work but if you could see them you would see they are green with envy.

  5. Danigirl, Congratulations and welcome to the world of upstairs ;). We LOVE our laptop we got as our Anniversary present. We use it all over the house and on the front porch :D. I would follow UberGeeks suggestion of coffee outside on the grass, but as we are still waiting for ours I will wait until the dust is gone. I can’t wait though :). Wireless rocks by the way, Staples had a kit (Linksys wireless router and card for laptop) for $129 with a $30 rebate.
Congratulations! perhaps I need to start a blog soon to keep up with you 😉
