I’m writing a quick e-mail, and Beloved happens to look over my shoulder at the monitor.
“Woot?” he asks, reading my first line. “What are you, an owl with a speech impediment?”
“Woot!” I say. “Sheesh, get with the lingo, dude. Woot is old skool now. Squee is the new woot.”
He lowers his head into his hands, shoulders drooping. “I’m married to a thirteen year old,” he sighs.
“This is a bloggable moment!” I exclaim brightly, clicking to open the Blogger dashboard.
He shakes his head in resignation and walks away muttering to himself.

Wow! I thought for a minute that Beloved was doing his impression of Steve. But Steve would have said “Don’t forget to LOL or ROTFLMFAO!” in a falsely bright keener tone as he walked away.
This week I was also accused of making our family get a new dog so I’d have more cheap blog fodder.

Ha. I saw “Woot” on a school’s sign the other day. It said “Friday’s a PD Day. Woot!” First, I thought that’s so sad. Then, I thought it’s so sad that my version of woot would be Whoop… from that song in the mid-90s I think: Whoop, Der it is!” I hated that song even then.
And now it’s squee… I will never catch up.

i was watching one tree hill a while ago (oh like you never…) and one of the adults said ‘woot’ and everyone looked at her liike she was from outerspace. that’s how i feel when i use it – – – like i’m too old for it and not cool enough anymore….but damned if that’s going to stop me!!! 🙂
