The littlest enforcer

We’re in the car, driving back from our favourite hamburger joint. Simon and Tristan are recounting the day’s adventures, and Tristan tells us how he was playing basketball in the driveway with one of the kids from daycare.

Tristan: “It was fun, but then he pushed me while he was trying to get the ball and I fell down.”

Simon (two years younger and four inches shorter than Tristan), fiercely: “If that guy ever pushes you down again, I’m going to teach him a lesson!”

I suspect that may in fact set the tone for their school years. Don’t mess with Tristan, or his little brother will beat the snot out of you.

  1. Way too cute. But where did he hear that “I’m going to teach him a lesson…Part. Too funny!

  3. It’s great that kids’ll come out with “it was fun” before adding that being pushed to the ground wasn’t the best part. Grown-ups tend to lead with the insult and injury report. I mean, really, when’s the last time you got knocked down in a driveway and rolled that into a sentence that started with “It was fun…”? There may be a lesson in that. But then Simon’s snot-kicking lesson is better entertainment.

  5. That is funny, little brother is taking charge.
A week or so ago a kid in my oldest son’s class acted like he was going to push my 2 year old down. The 4 year old promptly told the bully, “hey, that’s my brother Jace and you don’t even look at him”…I was like, woohoooo
