Ta da!

So, what do you think? Okay for a first draft? Can you even see the new banner?

After your incredibly sweet comments yesterday, you got me to thinking. Blog is pretty much an accounting of my life in progress, right? Not an after-the-fact memoir, but a live and in real time before your eyes kind of thing. So it seems only fitting that you get to watch the evolution of blog in real time, too.

I’m a little self-conscious. I have visions of you looking at the banner and thinking to yourself, “You worked all day and that’s all you came up with?” Hey, it’s all about learning, right? And did I mention 179 fonts to choose from? Do you realize how long it takes just to look at 179 fonts? A LONG time!

It’s not exactly what I had pictured when I started out, but it’s not a bad start. I’d like to clean up the ink-spot images, especially the blue one. It got a little distorted when I resized it. And do those footprints look like baby footprints to you? That was the idea, but I’m not sure it worked. I’m going to box in the text, I think, and maybe add another colour – maybe orange or a cranberry red?

I know only 5 to 10 per cent of you who come here comment with any regularity, but I’d love it if you could drop me a note in the comments to tell me whether you can see the new banner or not. You don’t have to critique it – I would just like to know whether the majority of people can see it or not, and whether it significantly impedes the loading or viewing of blog. Of course, your comments on the aethestic aspects are more than welcome as well.

I promise we’ll return to our regular drivel soon…

I can see it. both in IE and mozilla/netscape under Linux. However, the sizing is off a bit in Mozilla and the right most border is being truncated.

IT’S BEAUTIFUL!!!!
As Ubergeek notes…truncated on right side in Firefox.
Did I mention it’s beautiful? Good job Dani.

Now I feel inspired. Will somebody please come and take my kids away for another 12 or 18 hours so I can play some more?
xo Danigirl, off to refill the bubbles in the sand and water table outside and dream of blog banners

I see dead people. Oh, and I see the banner, too. Looks very impressive. You’ve done well, gwasshoppa.

I just came back because I thought you should know this. After visiting your site and seeing the new header about two hours ago, I’ve developed this weird um, red mark thingy on my elbow. It could simply be from the armrest on my chair, but considering your new header seems to cause a whole bunch of trouble, I’m wondering if it’s causing this too.
Did you build something subliminal into the picture? And why do I have this sudden strange desire to send you money? Something’s suspicious here…

Sorry Troy. Nothing so nefarious
Ever crossed my mind. I’m glad
Nobody had any major trouble with
Downloading the banner, though!
Mostly, I’m glad that the range
Of available browsers was tested.
Now I can play with the text and
Even try adding some more images.
You know, spice it up!
Nice of so many of you to comment.
Over all, I have no doubt it was
Well worth the effort.

These are not the droids you’re looking for. You can go now.

You caught my eye with those blue feet for sure. Very apropos. Someone else said it best: “stylish but not preachy”. You could certainly build on that motif in the future.
Sizing looks okay to me (Mozilla and IE @ 1024×768 or 1280×1024 both good). I’ll let you know how it looks on my LCD at work if you can wait until Monday.

21 Ella July 1, 2005 at 4:27 pm

I can see it and I love it!
Sorry you have trouble with mine – I wasn’t aware that some people might be having problems. If you have time, let me know what happens when you load my page and I’ll try and rectify it (or I’ll get my geeky husband to!)
