Tristan’s first blog post: A Phineas and Ferb Giveaway!

Over the last decade, I’ve watched a LOT of kid TV. Most of it is to be endured rather than enjoyed, but I have to admit, when the boys are watching Phineas and Ferb, I get sucked in every time. It is by far my favourite cartoon, narrowly edging out Peep and the Big Wide World and the WonderPets. When I was recently offered the opportunity to host a giveaway of the not-yet-released DVD “Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files” I knew I had to say yes, partly because I knew there had to be more Phineas and Ferb fans out there and (I admit it) largely because it’s Tristan’s favourite TV show, too.

Don’t take my word for it, though; let Tristan tell you about it himself! Without further ado or even (oy, this part was hard) correction of the original typos, here is Tristan on what is Phineas and Ferb and why it’s a great show:

What is Phineas and Ferb? Phineas and ferb is a tv show that has two boys named phineas and ferb and they’re sister Candace .Phineas and Ferb are always building crazy contraptions. They’re sister is always trying to bust them for it. Phineas and Ferb have three friends Isabella, Buford, and Baljeet. They’re friends help them in construction and testing their contraptions.

Perry the platypus and Dr.Doofenshmirts. Perry the platypus is Phineas’ and Ferb’s pet . Dr.Doof is always inventing machines to take over the tri state area. All of Dr.Doof’s inventions all end in the word “inator”. Perry the platypus is always destroying Dr.Doof’s “inators”. Parts of Dr.Doof’s inventions always falling in to Phineas’ and Ferb’s yard and making their inventions disappear .

Phineas and Ferb is a good television show. It is a good show because it is good for just about all ages even adults like it. It has good humor and it is good for creative people. It is also a good show because it has a song to each episode that is funky and fun to listen to. It is so strange how when ever Candace brings their mom home Phineas’ and Ferb’s inventions disappear . It gives the show a little bit of mystery .

(My little blogger-in-training. I’m so proud! You can’t quite see it in the photo, but by clever planning on my part absolute fluke he’s even wearing his Perry the Platypus T-shirt.)

  1. This is a great first post Tristan. My favourite TV show as a kid was Inspector Gadget. Miss R’s favourite show right now is Team Umizoomi.

  2. Hands down my fave was Care Bears, and now my daughter can’t get enough of the little cuties either! So glad they are being brought back this year for another series. P&F (and Agent P) are really cool too – my girl loves Candace’s Little Brothers song.

  3. I also adore Phineas and Ferb – I think it’s brilliant, and the songs are so catchy (“And you’re gonna be busted!”). My friends without children are starting to think I’m insane because I’m always recommending this show to them. I seriously think it’s on par with The Simpsons.

When I was a kid I didn’t watch too much TV, but I remember watching G-Force and playing it a lot on the playground. It was always a coup if you got to be Princess.

  4. We enjoy Phineas nad Ferb. We will actually watch it some after the boys are in bed, but eventually we realize we see enough cartoons when they are awake.

I enjoy Peep, probably more than boys.

  5. My kids keep asking how they can get a job at Doofensmirtz Evil Inc….

Back in the dinosaur days when I was a kid, I liked Gem and the Holograms (can’t believe I’m admitting this).

  6. Great post, Tristan! My favorite, hands down, was the Friendly Giant. Oh, that chair by the fire made for two!

  7. Hi Tristan….great post! I loved your synopsis of the show. My son (also named Tristan!) loves to watch the show with his little brother as well. When I was your age my favourite show was The Brady Bunch. It’s very hard to put that in print, but in the interest of full disclosure…..

  8. Very good first post, Tristan! My favourite cartoon when I was your age was Scooby Doo.

  9. Perry the Platypus is my fave. So awesome. Great first post Tristan, and my fave shows as a kid (because I was a wee bit of a nurd) were Space: 1999 and Star Trek. Also, not much has changed since then. 😀

  10. I am a fan of P&F and I will admit that it was one of the only kids shows I missed when we ditched cable. Now if we could get a DVD of it that would rock.

My favourite show as a kid was the Flintstones. I used to go home to eat lunch on school days and I would watch the Flintstones while I ate. We had a small black and white TV that was on our kitchen table. There was also a short that played after about a time traveling mouse. I looked it up and google and I can’t find the name. But it was awesome. Maybe your Mom remembers it 🙂

  11. My favourite show growing up Tristan was the Muppets, or Inspector Gadget.

As an aside Tristan, my 2 girls ages 6 & 8 absolutely LOVE Phoneas & Ferb too!

  12. Nice blog post, Tristan. I will really date myself and tell you that I loved H.R. Puffenstuff!

Neither my kids nor myself have ever seen Phineas and Ferb, so I would love to win a copy and find out why you love it so. My kids currently love the Kratt brothers, one of whom, I understand, lives near you (or has a kid in your class or something like that?). Perhaps you could invite him and us for a party at the same time… 😉

p.s. Sarah still remembers climbing trees with you.

  13. Great job Tristan!!

My little guy Matthew loves P&H too! We watch it every night and I think Mom & Dad enjoy it just as much as he does 🙂

My favourite show as a little girl was The Polka Dot Door. I’d race through dinner so I could go and watch it. I was also a big fan of Sesame Street.

  14. Hi Tristan, awesome first blog! My three girls love Phineas and Ferb too.

My favorite show as a little girls was the smurfs…every saturday morning at 7am. 🙂

  15. Hi – I had lots of favourite shows, but the two that stand out in my mind right now are The Bugs Bunny Show and The Flinstones! And you can still catch both of these shows on TV if you look 🙂 My daughter who is 10 and I really like watching Phineas & Ferb – I think Candace is really funny! Mooooommmm…. 🙂

  16. I would say my favourite cartoon show as a kid was the Jetsons. P&F is one of the few shows the kids watch, that we all like. At Holleywood Studios, my husband was just as thrilled to meet the Phineous and Ferb characters as the kids were. He got a Dr D shirt. SOn got the Perry shirt and Daughter the Candace one.

  17. WE love Phineus and Ferb! When I was Tristan’s age I loved the Dukes of Hazzard soooooooooooooooooo much that I named my dog Bo Duke. He lived 15yrs- his name sort of “dated” him.

  18. My favourite show as a kid was the Muppets. I was so excited that there was a Muppet movie this year as we had introduced our 12 and 9 year olds to them a long time ago. I would love to surprise them with this movie so I hope I am the winner with the random pickerinator!!! 🙂

  19. So fun! My daughter has just started watching P&F…. there are books about them too 🙂 My favourite show as a kid was G-Force!

  20. Hi! My favourite show as a kid was probably The Muppet Show, followed by Fraggle Rock.
I have to add, we are total Phineas & Ferb fans in our house!! And shhhh!!! but we are taking the kids to see Phineas & Ferb Live!! in December! I am sooo excited!! I can’t wait! 😉

  21. Hiya, Tristan
My favourite show from when I was a kid was the Brady Bunch. I loved the Muppet Show too but I was a bit older when it started showing–maybe 11? The Flintstones and Davy and Goliath were also big in our house, as was Spiderman. Boy, it sure sounds as if we watched a lot of TV. By the way, I agree with your mom about Phineas and Ferb, the Wonder Pets and Peep and the Big Wide World. I also think that Hans Doofenschmirtz is perhaps the best character on television right now. My daughter, M who you have met, adores Phineas and Ferb. She’s also quite keen on Pokemon at the moment and an Australian show called Dead Gorgeous.–Sue
