Sploosh!

Hey, guess what? Breaking news – or should that be breaking water? I’m leaking. Really leaking. A lot! Even women gestating elephant calves don’t have *these* kind of bladder control issues!

Waiting for the midwife to call back… still no contractions.

And you know why my water is breaking as we speak? Because tonight is Survivor Fans versus Favourites AND the new episode of LOST, and they’re on back to back on different channels and I don’t know how to set the VCR to tape both of them. (Yes, I’m about to go into labour and my biggest dilemma is which show to tape and whether I have enough time to learn how to set the VCR. I’m just that shallow.)

Edited to add: the theme of this pregnancy really is turning out to be “hurry up and wait.” Since I’m still not having any contractions (but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind – nor my soaked pants! – that this is the real deal) I’m just supposed to hang around here and wait for something else exciting to happen. The midwife will call me around lunchtime to see if contractions have started and talk about next steps, which will likely include another 40 km round-trip drive to their office this afternoon for another assessment.

Really, I’m sure there are more important things I’m supposed to be doing right now…

  1. Ha that is so funny, just yesterday when I was setting my PVR to record Survivior I thought “Hey Dani will definitely go in labour tomorrow”. Can’t wait to hear about this little bundle of joy! Wishing you the best labour possible!

  2. Whoot! or is that Whoosh?!
    Good luck!!

ps. perhaps your Mom can tape one while you tape the other?? Don’t want to miss out on having something good to watch during all the upcoming feedings!!

  3. About time!!!! Hooray!!

Now hurry up and start pushing, order the TV for your room and you may very well get to watch the shows while bf-ing!!!

Very suitable captcha = signs remarkably – isn’t that hilarious??

  4. Wahoo ๐Ÿ™‚ Come on baby! A friend just called to tell me she had her baby this morning – joked that the kid wanted to wait until the start of the Chinese new year. Maybe that’s what TPTBNL has been waiting for too?!

Also, we tape Lost so set your VCR for Survivor and I’ll lend you a copy of Lost later if need be…

  5. As a fellow Survivor junkie, I think it is just oh so appropriate that TPTBNL is making his debut today. But I should warn you, my Captcha is ….

    Night Package!!!!

Doesn’t get much more telling than that does it.

  6. Hurray!! Can’t believe I could get this excited for a stranger but yay you! Good luck, sending you “Good Vibrations” (a little LOST reference for ya).

ps. you forgot to mention today *has* to be the day since there is also a good accumulation of snow in progress… drive safely!

  7. YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!

I just knew that obsessive checking would pay off!!! Fast, easy labor to you!! Can’t wait to “meet” that little one!!

  8. no joke… my captcha is “the television”. Go figure – your dilemma now is how to get the television to work!
But really… woohooO!!!!!!! I’ve never been so happy to hear about wet underwear!

  9. Hello! Not sure if I have left a comment before…but I do pop by from time to time. You need the Rogers PVR box you can tape up to three shows at the same time and you can tell it to tape all episodes of this show any time it airs so you never miss it – even it gets bumped or whatever. Seriously, every new Mom NEEDS one so when you are up in the middle of the night just pick any show you have taped…no tapes involved. Believe me I am no techie and I can do it.

This sounds like the real thing…good luck!

  10. Ha! Told you so! Good luck good luck good luck! And Karine has just stuck her head around the wall to enquire as to why I’m squealing…

  11. Keeping the fingers crossed for you Dani! With Jade my water broke and I had mild cramping-type contractions for a day before they finally decided to augment (but I was already at 4 cm – great to get so much done with so little effort!). This should at least bump you up on the priority list if things don’t get going on their own ’cause they generally don’t like to wait more than 24 hours after your water breaks. ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck!
