Okay, so the entire blog is a sort of ego wall. But this page is a spot where I can store the references and citations and accolades that Postcards from the Mothership <\/em>has earned over the years. It’s really a shameless brag, but I can’t help myself!<\/p>\n

In December 2010, SweetMama.ca<\/a> listed Postcards from the Mothership as one of Ottawa’s five best family blogs.

\nIn December 2010, Postcards from the Mothership was shortlisted as one of the five finalists for the 2010 Canadian Weblog Awards<\/a> in the Humour Category. It was also nominated for Best Family Blog and Best Written Blog.<\/p>\n

In June 2010, I was rated one of the five best presenters at the Advanced Learning Institute’s Social Media for Government Conference<\/a> in Ottawa. In fact, when there was a cancellation I was invited to return and repeat the performance at the September 2010 conference as well. Update<\/em>: they’ve also invited me to come out to speak at the April 2011 conference in Vancouver. Yay!<\/p>\n

In May of 2010, Canadian Family Magazine<\/a> included Postcards from the Mothership as one of their Top 49 Mommy Blogs<\/a>. (Back in April of 2009, I was a guest blogger<\/a> for their Family Jewels blog, and was invited to return as a repeating guest blogger in July of 2010.)<\/p>\n

In August of 2009, the folks at OttawaStart.com included me in their excellent list of “30 essential Ottawa blogs<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

On July 23, 2009, I was one of 16 local bloggers who participated in Blog Out Loud<\/a>, an Ottawa-based get-together for bloggers, lurkers, and anyone who likes to hear good writing. Update<\/em>: I participated in this excellent evening of bloggy goodness again in 2010!<\/p>\n

On July 22, 2009 I was interviewed<\/a> by Adrian Harewood on CBC Radio Ottawa’s afternoon show, All in a Day, about Project 365, my one-photo-every-day-for-a-year project.<\/p>\n

In February 2009, I was one of ten finalists in Mabel’s Labels “Send a Blogger to BlogHer<\/a>” contest.<\/p>\n

In October 2007, I was the guest speaker at Third Tuesday Ottawa, a gathering of communications and public relations specialists with a passion for social media. I spoke about government and social media, and about marketing to mommy bloggers, among a host of other things<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Smuggler’s Notch<\/a> resort in Vermont was so satisfied with my blog posts<\/a>of a trip they sponsored in the summer of 2007 that they commissioned an article <\/a>— my first print publishing credit! — based on my review for their Explore magazine.<\/p>\n

The blog and I were featured in “Moms Who Blog,” an article from
\nCanadian Family Magazine<\/a>, June 2007<\/p>\n

“In vitro we trust” was an article that featured our convoluted (in)fertility history and the state of reproductive technologies in Canada, from Chatelaine<\/a> magazine, May 2007. (I blogged about it here<\/a>.) <\/p>\n

“Blogging for Dollar$” was an article that referenced my blog and decision whether or not to take advertising, from the Ottawa Citizen<\/em><\/a>, October 2006 <\/p>\n

At ARM’s Motherlode<\/em> Conference in Toronto<\/a>, an academic conference in October 2006, I co-presented on a panel called “Mama’s Got a Brand New Blog: The Rise of the Weblog and its Impact on Mothering.” (I blogged about it here<\/a>, and my presentation is here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

In June of 2006, we took a three-day vacation in Quebec City<\/a>, and my recap of the trip was cited in the National Geographic Traveler Magazine<\/em><\/a> special feature on Quebec City.<\/p>\n

The blog earned a Silver 2nd place finish in the Family Blogs category of the 2006 <\/a>, 2007<\/a> and <\/strong>2009 <\/a>Canadian Blog Awards.<\/p>\n

In January of 2006, Andrea from a peek inside the fishbowl <\/a>invited me and two other bloggers to be a part of a feature on the CJOH News at Noon about blogging.<\/a> That was so much fun that two months later in March of 2006 the host, Leanne Cusack, invited Andrea and Kristina <\/a>and I back to the CJOH studio to do a call-in panel about blogging<\/a> for the News at Noon.<\/p>\n

Postcards from the Mothership earned a Weblog Award nomination for Best Parenting Blog in both 2005<\/a> and in 2007<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I was very proud to be awarded 3rd place in the Best New Blog category (Rick Mercer won it!) and nomination for Best Personal Blog in the 2005 Canadian Blog Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Way, way back, after I had been blogging but a single month, the Ottawa Citizen<\/em> ran a Saturday article called “New Kid on the Blog,” featuring snippets from 28 mommy and parenting blogs for the 28 days of February – including my first-ever blog entry. (Imagine my delight!) The article has long since disappeared, but I kept a copy for my own personal archives<\/a>.<\/p>\n
