I love today’s giveaway and I think you will, too! A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by Novica.com, one of the leading fair trade artisan websites. They work with National Geographic to give talented artisans around the world a place to express their artistic talents and provide access to the world market.

As soon as I had a peek at the Novica site, I was enthralled with their products. Novica.com offers a gorgeous selection of unique gifts, fair trade corporate gifts, and “green” gifts — truly, gorgeous stuff. Go ahead, take a peek for yourself! I’ll wait here until you get back.

The really nice thing about Novica.com is that they are working to empower the artisans with whom they are working, with programs like microfinancing, as well as acting as distributors. In Novica’s own words:

We want to give artists and artisans around the world a global platform to express their true artistic talents and to spur their creativity. And, we want to provide you with access to unique, hard-to-find items at great values that only the Internet infrastructure can allow.

At the deepest essence of our philosophy, we want to create a bridge between you and the many talented artisans across the globe. We want you to know about who you’re buying from. We want you to feel that attachment to the product and to the hands that created it.

In the spirit of the Internet, let us bring you together.

Isn’t that great? I’m totally in love with this “Fancy Frogs” cream and sugar set, these star-shaped appetizer plates, and this leather handbag from their fair-trade corporate gifts section.

The folks at Novica were nice enough to offer me a $100 gift certificate, or two $50 gift certificates so I could share with you. I’ll bet you can guess which one I chose — yep, you get to watch me spend the $100 gift certificate! Okay, I’m kidding, of course I chose to share with you!

So if you would like to be entered into the draw to win a $50 gift certificate for the unique and truly lovely stuff on the Novica site, here’s the details:

  • The prize is a $50 gift certificate to use on Novica.com. Gift certificate expires 30/11/2010.
  • One entry per person.
  • To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me something you’d love to receive — or to give! — from the Novica website.
  • One winner will be chosen at random based on all comments received.
  • Contest ends Midnight EDT on Sunday 9 May 2010, and the winner will be announced on Monday 10 May.

Thank you to Novica for this wonderful giveaway — and good luck!

So hard to choose! There are several bags I love, but this one I think is my favorite:

Oh! I think I’d put it towards a soda pop top purse. No, maybe a leather sling bag. Or, a cool ring. Ohhh, there was that gorgeous alpaca sweater though…

yeah, I can’t narrow it down. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I’d sure like a shot at having to try.

I like the glassware by Javier and Efren, especially this gorgeous emerald spiral one. Which I might have to get regardless…

Oh my goodness, how much fun would a hammock be?! I’d probably buy jewellery or a funky bag, though, because those are what I usually end up splurging on ๐Ÿ™‚

I totally love this idea, and I will definitely be doing some Novica shopping for gifts and Christmas!

What a beautiful tourquoise ring, which I would probably give to myself. But when everyone comments on it I would tell them more about FairTrade

I’d go for a piece of clothing. Those alpaca shirts look gorgeous and I badly need new clothes.

Some wall hanging for the girls room would be nice too though, there’s an awfully bare wall in there.

I have a thing for cocktail rings and chunky rings. I usually wear just one, on my right hand and make sure that I’m not over-accessorized. I think this gorgeous silver flower-shaped cocktail ring http://www.novica.com/itemdetail/index.cfm?pid=125432 would be perfect!

15 Marianne May 6, 2010 at 9:07 pm

I definitely covet the fancy frogs cream and sugar set too. I also found many Christmas tree ornaments that would make perfect gifts.

16 Tiana May 6, 2010 at 9:16 pm

not that I’d have anywhere to put it but my dreams often involve such a hammock as this fine specimen

I have been searching for years (literally) for a cross necklace that I truly love, and I see about ten on the first page alone! I love the Moon Crucifix and Prayers in a Cross. Maybe I would even treat myself to both!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So hard to choose. Either a sculpture or a painting I think. There are so many nice ones!

What a lot of lovely, want-able things! I would probably choose a Kashmiri silk and wool shawl – just the thing to dress up my outfits, and cheer me up in the grey Ottawa fall and winter.

21 Jennifer May 7, 2010 at 10:04 am

What gorgeous stuff! I would pick a lovely scarf to help get through these chilly spring evenings and into the true heat of summer.
