I found the Globe and Mail’s interactive quiz on sodium consumption interesting and rather alarming. I don’t eat a lot of the stuff on this list, but some of them are staple kids’ food in our house, including the baby carrots. (Who knew there was sodium in baby carrots?)

I couldn’t find peanut butter on that quiz, so I had to go to the cupboard to check it out. This is what my preschooler lives on. I’m relieved to report that it is not all that high in sodium. Phew!
Why yes, baby carrots have sodium. I mean, vegetables come naturally with sodium, just like fruits come naturally with sugar, no ?
We try really hard to keep our levels low, but after these articles, and their ‘salt meter’ we’ve realized it’s everywhere! So hard!!
