I knew the RCMP holds a contest each year inviting kids to new foals from the Ottawa stables that may be part of the Musical Ride program, but I didn’t know they also had a Name That Puppy contest for future police service dogs. Kids 16 and under can enter, but you have to send your entry in the old-fashioned way – by snail mail! Hello, RCMP, what decade is this? We should be able to Tweet our entries in!

Although my boys have shown an astonishing lack of inspiration in naming their Webkinz (the polar bear is named, um, Poley, and the mouse is named, you guessed it, Mousey) I think I’ll use this to teach them about old-school communication methods. With stamps! And paper!

Oooh! I’m going to sic Snuggly Girl on this one. (Pun intended.)

She’s pretty creative — she has a horse named Wind, a raccoon named Mischief, and a dolphin named Defator (short for Dolphinator!). (And, um, about 4 more with less interesting names. Gifts from friends. All gifts. I swear.)
