Saw this in the paper today: Ikea is planning to build the largest Ikea in Canada, and one of the five largest Ikeas in North America, right here in Ottawa. Yay! It will be the size of EIGHT football fields, and two stories tall, on the location of the current store — one of the smallest in the country.

  1. Countdown to Ikea’s grand opening!! It’s been a looooooooong wait since we first heard the news back in January of 2009 (eek, I was just starting my very first 365 project that month, seems like a hundred years ago!) that Ikea would be opening the Largest! Ikea! in Canada! right here in Ottawa. It will...
  2. New Ottawa Ikea Sneak Peek! It was a dark and stormy night in Ottawa, but it was dry and bright with brilliant colours inside the new Ikea during the special media sneak peek last night! ZOMG, what an awesome, enormous store!! It’s laid out on two levels – if you walk the maze through both...
  3. The ongoing saga of the Ikea incident I can see you rolling your eyes. Again with the Ikea thing, you say with a sigh. Yes, again. I’m sorry – I just can’t help myself. I may be accused of milking the whole ikea dog weiner issue, but I must tell you how utterly captivated I have been...

Interesting! It’s a crap parking lot already…what the heck are they planning to do – offer parking suspended above the building? On a very cool note, did you know that we don’t have to look for parking when we go because they have two “Hybrid car only” parking spots right up front, and we just happen to own an hybrid? How cool is THAT? And how jealous are you all, who don’t own hybrid cars yet?

I am pretty excited too. And being that we are lucky to live here I usually go there on Monday or Tuesday nights when the parking isn’t an issue. And we are pretty much guaranteed room in the ball pit for the kiddies. Oh I wonder if they will expand the ball pit accordingly :)
