Gorgeous Babylicious sleep sack, free for the asking

I’ve been thinking of getting Lucas a sleep sack since the nights turned cool. I don’t mind keeping the thermostat around 16C or 17C overnight, as long as everyone has cosy flannel sheets and thick blankets to pull up to their chins. I’d been swaddling Lucas, and he stays fairly still while he sleeps (might be the fact that we’re still cramming him into the bedside cradle!) but I’d been sleeping poorly in worrying whether he was covered up.

I’d just started to wonder where to look for a sleep sack when I got a nice e-mail from Emma at Babylicious, wondering if I’d be interested in doing a product review. I took a peek at their website (100% Canadian, by the way!) and found in amidst the fun, funky and functional baby gear these sleep sacks. So I sent Emma a note back saying, ‘Sure, I’d love to do a product review for you and if you don’t have any particular product in mind I just happen to be in the market for a sleep sack.’ Shameless, eh?

Within a couple of days, this absolutely adorable sleep cozy arrived.

It’s a 100% cotton shell with polyester fleece lining, zip and snap closings, and snaps at the bottom for adjustable length. Beloved says he wants one in grown-up size for himself!

But you know what? Sob. It’s too small. I forgot to mention it was for my long, leggy almost 9 months old stretch-baby. It would likely fit him length-wise, especially with the buttons at the bottom to adjust the length, but it’s a little too snug across the chest. It’s actually for sizes 0 to 3 months. It’s lovely, though, isn’t it?

Would you like it? It breaks my heart that I can’t use it, but I’d like to give it to one of you. If you’d like it, leave a comment on this post before Friday, 9 November 2008 and I’ll choose a winner at random. Not just any comment, though. Tell me what keeps you warm on cold winter nights.

And if you drop by the Babylicious site right now, you can enter to win an entire Babylicious collection. Contest closes December 24.

What a beautiful sleep sack! I’m expecting a little one in Spring, and I expect thoughts of meeting that baby will keep me warm. Plus, a healthy dose of hot chocolate!

Oh that is lovely … I have a two week old premature boy who’d love to be snuggled up in that … love your blog!

Mine are both too big for it, but we did receive one as a gift at my baby shower and used it faithfully for a few months (from birth until warm weather arrived!).

I also wanted to note that we gave one to friends as a gift who initially commented that it might be useful “once they moved the baby into her own bed”. However, we used it while co-sleeping. We are careful to keep blankets away from a newborn in the bed and having her in the sleep sack gave us a safe way to keep her warm at night.

Ooh, I have a niece or nephew arriving in the deep cold of January who would love to snuggle in that gorgeous sack.

This winter snuggling with my husband under our new duvet, with thoughts of the possibility of making a baby of our own will be keeping me warm this winter. :)

A friend of mine gave me a GroBag sleep sack as a shower gift before Jade was born and we loved it so much, I’ve been giving sleep sacks as gifts ever since! When she moved up to the next size, I got several so that I’d have different weights and would be able to wash one without running out. But I think I still have just the one in the tiny baby size, so….!

My hubby keeps me warm on cold winter nights… he is such a furnace that when he goes out of town, I need an extra blanket!

My mother made a sleep bag for each of my children when they were infants – perfect in keeping them warm at night. My younger one now goes to bed with 2 sets of pjs on – inside he wears a 2 piece and on the outside a one piece — keeps him warm without getting hot. I stay warm snuggling up with my hubby!!

Not to bed entered as my new one is already 8 weeks but wanted to add that the grobag is great…locally purchased from here in Ottawa. I love the fact that it is the zipper opening. I have used them with 2 of 4 kids and they are my 1st choice for gifts…

As for me – I use the quilts my mom made me when the furnace sleeping beside me is snoring.

I don’t need one, but want to say that ds is still using one at almost 3 yrs old. He was waking in the night when he lost his covers, so I found the last, largest one I had made for dd (when she was 2), and convinced him that it was fun and special (all the stars, planets, etc. helped). He loves it and sleeps through the night (mostly, LOL).

Hi Dani,

I really enjoy your blog. I watched an author named Christopher Flett on the Today Show, he wrote a book called “What Men Don’t Tell Women About Business” and it shares secrets for women working in business. I thought you might enjoy hearing about him. There could be some great content in their for future posts.

Keep up the great work.

Sincerely,

Bihter

Dani! Here’s my idea for you – this is what I did – cuz we did the same turn the heat down thing….and I liked the sleep sack idea but was worried about fingers and arms getting cold…. my son slept in one of those fleecy snow suits – the one’s with flaps that can be covered or uncovered for the hands and feet that are totally enclosed….it had a hood (no strings) and you can find them in several sizes…think mine was from Sears. I could nurse with him in it too and put the whole big blob of him back in bed to sleep.

Here’s one almost exactly like mine was:

100% Canadian? I’m pretty sure they manufacture in China, no? Please correct me if I’m wrong…

Love the sleep sack! We’re expecting our third in the spring. I’ve always likes sleep sacks for after six months when they’re less likely to like being swaddled but still need to be warm at night. They can’t pull up the down duvet and snuggle in with the dog and cat at their feet like we can.

Love your blog! I’m going back to your mini van post since we really have to get shopping!

Natasha November 6, 2008 at 7:17 pm

I’ve been reading your blog for almost a year now and I love it! One of the three I check daily.

We’re expecting our first at the end of March and I’m just starting to feel some movement which makes me think our little one would greatly benefit from a sleep sack!

What keeps me warm at night is curling up next to my husband, and when he steals all the blankets, my fleece pajamas :)

Hi Dani,

I’ve been doing some additional research on the author, Chris Flett, that I talked about on my last comment. His company is “GhostCEO” (www.GhostCEO.com) and his book is a bestseller. I found it on Amazon here. Anyway, he was in the NY Times last Sunday under the “Career Couch” and he makes reference to women’s blogs like yours so I thought you might like to connect. I’d like to see you interview him and see what he’s all about. I saw on another blog he was a guest blogger. His email is: chris@ghostceo.com

Best wishes,

Bihter.
