Sorry, folks. I’m not overly fond of captchas, but I had to do something to stop the flow of comment spam. I’ve installed a small captcha widget called reCAPTCHA that asks you to type two words before you comment. The upside is that by using this one, you’re helping to confirm words that have been scanned to digitize books. You can read more about it here.

I hope this is just a temporary measure. Thanks for your patience, and please do send me an e-mail at danicanada (a) gmail (dot) com if you have any trouble with it!

  1. Book giveaway – TOON comics for beginning readers Back in December 2008, I blogged about a set of books I’d been offered by TOON Books. Back then, I was enamoured by the concept of TOON books, and even more impressed by the product themselves. Here’s what I said back then: They sent us three books: Jack and the...
  2. Friday comment game – it’s all about you! I’ve been staring at this empty interface for long enough. I give up, I got nothing for you today. Well, that’s not exactly true. I’ve got a rant about diapers, but I think it follows a little too closely on my rant about BBQ chips and my rant about punctuation...
  3. Blogger beta and haloscan – help! I’ve started a new blog for internal use here at work (maybe I can share some day soon) and I’m having a hard time installing the comments. Any blogger beta / html experts out there? I can install the comments just fine on the main and archive pages, but on...
  4. MotherTalk book review: Bob Books for Beginning Readers I have a confession to make. I didn’t read a single book in the boxed set I’m supposed to be reviewing today for my stop on MotherTalk’s Bob Books blog tour. In fact, I had them read to me – by Tristan, my five year old son. (pause for gasps...
  5. Placeholder I keep writing posts and not publishing them. I can’t get one right, and it’s making me squirrelly. My words, usually golden and fluid like warm coffee, are alternately gelatinous and prickly. Not fit for sharing, in any case. Stay tuned, I’m sure it’s only temporary....

Yay! I didn’t know the CAPTCHA program using actual words was up and running – hurrah! If we have to have the stupid things, at least it does something good, right?

I mean kinda neat.

That was a brain dead moment, wasn’t it?
