Thank you all for your comments. Knowing we are doing this with the rest of the online community (or at least the rest of my little blogging community) somehow gives me great comfort.
Last night was about the same. Fine until bedtime, then the little voice that wants to renege on the Gordon deal and have the soothers back. Woke up two or three times crying. Even this morning, he was mopey and saying he didn't want Gordon anymore (codespeak for what he does want).
Sigh, I know it's the right thing, but I feel so bad for the little guy.

Baby Girl is still a "sucky cloth" addict (pieces of my old t-shirts). The toy swap is a fab idea that I will have to keep in mind for the future!

WOW>>>Gave it up himself. That is a BIG step and I can feel your joy and pain over all this. Luckly both my kids never really liked soothers...Well one did but gave it up herself and the other NEVER did and I wish he had. Would have saved my breats. LOL!
It's nice to see them grow and change but alittle scarey at the same time. I Wonder if Gordon would do the same here with sleep issues. Although i'm not sure I'm ready to give up cuddle time.

Great post. Thanks for sharing. We're in the process of weaning from the family bed to the crib and I think it is harder on me than my daughter. Ah...the stuff us parents go through...

Oh Dani, I hear your pain. As you know we did the same routine, and I would just remind him he gave his soother up to get his guitar. It did continue for a while, but it's pretty tough for them to argue when it was their decision. That being said, I think a tantrum would have been a little easier on our hearts.
Good job mommy, he'll stop asking soon enough...
