Apparently it’s National Procrastination Week. I would have mentioned it earlier, but something kept coming up. Forget Hallmark holidays like Valentine’s Day and Secretaries Day, this is an occasion I can celebrate!
I’m not so sure my problem is procrastination so much as I have a to-do list with about 7000 items on it, with ‘blog’ and ‘don’t neglect kids’ near the top and ‘don’t forget to get off the bus and go to work’ somewhere in the middle of the pack. Somehow, stuff like ‘eat healthy’ and ‘be nice to mother-in-law’ never make it past the 5000s.
Do you prioritize your day? When I was home on maternity leave, I used to think of two or three things I had to get accomplished for the day, and that was manageable. Now that I’m back to work, we’re back to the chaos theory of home management – if it’s not screaming, leaking or clinging to my leg, it can wait. For a while, I even subscribed to the Fly Lady, but sorting through the deluge of e-mail was too much like work, and every time I got near the computer to read her latest missives I’d get sucked in to playing online and blow off any time I had set aside for doing Fly Lady-ish things.
Speaking of procrastinating, I really ought to get on with my day now. Question of the day: what is your favourite guilty indulgence when you are supposed to be doing something else?

- Contracting out I have exciting news: the cleaning lady starts on Monday. Isn’t that the best news you’ve heard all week? Beloved and I are not completely in agreement on our need for a cleaning lady. To his credit, he did an admirable job keeping the place tidy (if not spotless) while...
- Maternal ADD I‘ve been trying to figure out if this is just one of those things you have to accept when you’re a mother of three boisterous little boys, or if it’s something I can control. Lately, I have noticed that I am perpetually unable to complete a single task uninterrupted. I...
- Road trip The boys and I are heading down to southern Ontario for a road trip with Granny and Papa Lou today. Both of my brother’s kids have birthdays this week, so it should be a fun — if not hectic — weekend. Beloved is staying home to grade papers. Lucky him!...

MINE! I’M ON HERE WAY TOO LONG EVERYDAY! LOL! I’ll do just this thing then I’ll read some more blogs or check the email or write in my own.
I’ll play with my guy and come back. Needless to say I never get much done becasue when I get back there is always one more thing to check and the time flys by.
Procrastion is my middle name!
Definitely the pute….
Don’t tell anyone. But, my guilty indulgence is watching Y&R. I have been watching since Paul pretended to be a black to catch a bad guy. That was about 20 yrs ago.
and
Robin missing it today only because my DH is home.
I definitely subscribe to the chaos management theory — I quickly surveyed the house before I left this morning and couldn’t believe how much debris was scattered about. I’m hoping that the “ransacked” look in home decor soon becomes fashionable.
Oh, yes, you asked a question, didn’t you? Guess I was putting that off, along with the work I should be doing. Blogging counts as my number 1 procastinating indulgence, followed by reading and napping.
reading your blog Dani! and all other computer stuff…much more fun than housework
You guys are so funny! Suzanne, maybe we can work together to bring that ransacked (bon mot!) look into vogue?
Robin, I used to watch Y&R in high school. I couldn’t believe that after a 10 year hiatus I watched a few episodes and could still follow the plotlines!
Silvercreek Mom, have you been holding out on us? Is there something you would like to share with the group – hint hint?

This.
Running at warp speed to take a peek at the ‘puter to see what I am missing – all while reaminign hopeful that the Troops don’t get too restless. I even make excuses to go by the office to take a peek – like going to get more diapers, clean socks, etc…
My bad.
Oh, it feels so good to know that I am not the only overwhelmed FlyLady wanna-be…
My procrastination vices? Has to be eBay. Of course I should be listing stuff to sell vs. just looking at stuff. That’s if I can get to the computer.
I’ve been meaning to post a reply to this post since the day when you posted it, but…well, you know…..
